Involve ecological consultants as early as possible to ensure that recommendations can be implemented from the start rather than as costly final amendments and design out potential issues.
Choose a design that uses the previously developed footprint or land areas of low ecological value.
Protect existing green features on site such as native trees, hedgerows and grassland.
Maximise the number of native plants in the landscape design. Mixed native hedgerows and wildflower grass seed can dramatically increase the number of species on site. This will increase points gained for Eco 4.
Make provision for the long term management of the site.
